It was reported early in the morning, at 3:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, of Sunday, August 15th, that the Taliban had made it to gates of the capitol of Afghanistan – Kabul.
Much of the country of Afghanistan has fallen into the controlling, extremist, hands of the Taliban. As of today the Taliban has overrun and has its gripping hand in control of over 65% of the land mass and Afghanistan. Many provincial capitols have been won over by the Taliban.
The Afghan Air Force has 167 planes under its command but these were tools were not enough to keep the Taliban at bay during its onslaught that has been going on for months. The United States Air Force repeatedly had to be called back in all over Afghanistan to fight and provide aerial support for the Afghan Army on the ground and even this was only enough to stall what know seems like a grim conquest of Freedom to the newly formed nation.
The Taliban themselves have been waiting to negotiate a peaceful surrender of the current regime of Afghanistan in Kabul under the leadership of President Ashraf Ghani. Some people believe President Ghani had fled the capitol, but instead, he has awaited the arrival of the Taliban negotiators. Apparently, the Taliban it seems will allow embassy staff and anyone who wants to leave Kabul to do so. Money and ability to emigrate are a whole other question to be answered though.
It was previously believed by the Biden Administration that the fall of Kabul would happen within 90 days of the final withdrawal date of United States troops on August 31st, 2021. However, if you have been following any of the daily news, you then know that the reality of life has proven that statistic impossible.
U.S. President Joe Bidens decision to continue the drawdown of American occupation of Afghanistan has led to short existence for Afghan Central government. The United States sent 5000 American Soldiers back a week ago to escort U.S. embassy employees out of Kabul.
We can only hope and pray for better days to come 🙏🏿 WE NEED PEACE
Thank you very much Lucas. I have plans to make the world a much better place so hopefully you can help contribute to that.
